Finnegans Wake Checklist

This page is the result of work carried out by Harold Ryan.

This page would have liked to be an attempt to compile a secondary bibliography of all that has been written to date about Finnegans Wake. As this is obviously a massive endeavour, a piecemeal approach has been selected. For the time being, this is an attempt to cover only what has been published up to 1969, with a few exceptions where suitable. It is based on the article "Criticism of James Joyce: A Selected Checklist" by Maurice Beebe, Phillip F. Herring and Walton Litz, published in the spring 1969 (vol. xv, no. 1) issue of Modern Fiction Studies. Currently only the list of books has been fully done, but Harold is already working on the list of articles, as evidenced by the partial table below. If you know of an item that is within the current scope, yet is missing from this page, please let me know. Better yet, if you wish to join the compilation effort, primarily by extending it beyond 1969 through the systematic perusal of the James Joyce Checklists published in the James Joyce Quarterly, please contact me.

Where an item is available online, primarily through the University of Wisconsin's The James Joyce Scholars' Collection, edited by David Hayman, the item's title is a link to the online edition.
